Mastering Muscle Strain Return-to-Play: Top Tips for Footballers⚽️

I wanted to let you know I came across this video and it has the BEST explanation for muscle strain rehabilitation. There are many factors within Return To Play as an athlete, however, we want it to be as quick as possible whilst maximizing strength, mobility and the like. Here are some steps I would take for a return to play:


1️⃣ Visit a SPORTS physical therapist ASAP. (email us if you need any recommendations)

💡You want to see someone who has dealt with many ATHLETES, not the general population.


2️⃣Once visited, ask for exercises for the muscle injured.

💡Exercises should include isometrics and eccentrics in the beginning of rehab.


3️⃣Apply exercises DAILY.

💡Just as the video states, pain is NOT always bad. Pain in moderation can be good at times.


4️⃣Movement, mobility and education are key 🔑

🔚There is always something a player can do to get better. If the hamstring is injured, the upper body can still be a way to improve mentality and stay in shape. There’s also film-analysis which is just as important as on-field at times!
